Wishing for everything to be alright;

Somehow or rather, or it might be how the society nowadays shaped the people to be. It's a little saddening that what people wish for (on the wishing tree) are those material possessions: big house, good cars, branded stuff etc. I mean, sure, why not? But don't get too caught up and obsessed with trying to chase after all these, neglecting the other stuff. After all, this is not what life is about.. I mean, yes, it's true that without money "you are nothing", because a lot of activities/etc can only be done with money but they have to know that money cannot buy everything that is valuable.

I'm sure that everyone knows that every year in Singapore, they have this "inflated balloon" which they want the public to write their wishes for the new year. I mean, they are not miracle balloons so honestly, don't really expect your wish to actually come true. But those show your well-wishes. Below are what I've written for the past 2 years, and I will continue to write the same, if not, similar wishes come this year end.

Hi cyberspace blog, it's been sometime since I last posted here.. Been too lazy. So I shall just start off with a photo of myself #narcissistic

The past.. 1-2 months had been hell of a roller-coaster ride. I seriously don't like it. Even though everything is more or less "better" in a way, nothing is settled yet. It kinda sucks when there are stuff you cannot even control. The least I could do now is to be positive and hope for the best I guess.. As much as everything is still lingering, I feel much better now. Those few days were really quite :(

Time and again, I'm not sure if you really have to be "caught in such situations" to know who are the ones who will be there for you.. But then again, I'm really very very very thankful for those who stuck around this time.

2013

[3rd Jan '14]

Initially I wasn't really keen on doing a post on 2013, but I figured I have very short term memory so I better write one.. so at least I know I lived through 2013.. LOL (Like how I never remember anything during secondary school times & poly times)

2013 I ~think~ I did quite a bit of stuff, at least I almost completed my songs (yes I started writing lyrics since '05/'06?), took up one more instrument, get to explore more places I haven't been too, & etc..

Sometimes I look back at my pictures and realized I practically forgot most of what I did.. So thankfully I take pictures & keep them & never delete them (hence the 6k photos in my phone even though it's only a year old). I'm sure I'm going to miss out certain events because I never took pictures.

I don't remember 2013 as being a hell of an emotional roller coaster ride like certain points in 2012, but I remembered having months of August-September pretty down & stressful.. The rest of the year were pretty smooth sailing for me I guess. & as I was looking through my photos this year, it's made up of food.. food.. more food.. Well I guess that explains why my face is rounder. hahaha XP

New year's day! So ironically we spent NY together again this year.. haha!

We were "supposed" to go to places with live band to chill for my birthday celebration, but everywhere was jam-packed! So.. they gave me a treat on this reverse bungee.. One item off my checklist! :D

& then we/I had what they called "2 week birthday celebration".

Yet another long hiatus from previous post :/ gotten a little lazy, nothing much to complain, nothing to emo about.. lol! Kidding!! ;)

So.. I just got back from Taipei (and all those posts about Tokyo are still in draft lol), and something just hit me; it seems that there's a similarity in places I love:- the people. Taipei & Tokyo specifically, from the Asian countries, because I haven't been to any "angmoh" countries so I'm not a good judge.. They're really polite and courteous, at least the majority of them.. You can just chat up any of them, or they will start talking to you. Everyone is so friendly, and the environment is just so welcoming and all the positive vibes in the air. A little girl can just talk to me and told me to "jiayou" while I was trying to catch giraffes at the arcade (ikr lol), I can also talk to the aunties selling fruits at their stalls..

I guess it really matters with whom you're working with in future, not just all about "I'm doing what I love".. A little confession here, I used to not be bothered when I skip classes (oopss I didn't just say that hahah :/), but this time round, I was a little sad that I was going to miss a week of classes.. now that the acad year is halfway through, I better treasure time spent with my dear classmates!! That's about it I guess, till then! XD xoxo

Alright.. so today is the last day of holidays because my school official starts tomorrow! Since the start of holiday, I made this little "checklist" of what I intend to complete by the end of it. So, must I be proud to say I completed at least half, with somemore on going? ;) (I never make new year resolutions because I know I never keep to it lol)

So besides the checklist, I've been meeting all my friends! It's like a cycle.. schedule schedule schedule, meet, repeat all over again. Totally reminded me of this word-post about friends few posts back. So I'm glad I met up for quite a few times with all of them this holiday.

Recently I had this bit of "realisation" - it's those who were there in the process, not those who were at the end who matters. Even though you may be a good friend of mine, too late of an "appearance" for too many occasions will make me question our "status quo".. Even though there weren't very very major changes (e.g. migrating) in my life these few months, there were still quite a bit of significant changes..

School starting tomorrow doesn't mean that I have to stop all the fun, it just meant I have to further improve my time management to juggle between everything & to strike a perfect balance. Keeping that in mind, because too extreme of anything will have an opposite adverse effect. So dear friends, if I'm going too far out for anything, please catch me back!

Looking forward to bump into many many old friends in school this year. People whom you go to school with matter a lot too eyy? Heh ;)

Last but not least I hope #project2014 will materialise :D

Do you believe it when they say, a picture tells a thousand words? Yep, I certainly do. Not only that, I feel that you're able to tell how close people are just by looking at a group photo. In some group photos, there's those awkwardness - cliques evident in the big group etc. This actually stroke me when I was looking at our group photos (class, or girls), since very long ago. Not all of us are very close, yes, we tend to be closer to certain few people and less to the others, but heyy, equal spaces in between people here! (V) This is why I love my class the most. Aww ♥

That 0.01%

Okayy I had to blog about this because.. I did something so courageous today! (But I bet everyone will just mehh~ after hearing what I did) But it was kinda nerve wrecking. Imagine having me throw away my ultra egoistic self to actually take the first step? That's totally a first. And being an economics student, we play "games" which we have an upper hand or at least a safe bet. Honestly I think the chances of this succeeding is 0.01% (yes, not even 1% lol) so it was kinda a lose-for-sure situation.. But for once I decided, & managed to go hearts over heads. (V) so proud of myself *pats on my own back* No regrets, maybe I should do more of these (throw away ego) stuff, but of course, selectively! HEE :D

Cafe hopping

Cafes have been an uprising trend in Singapore, with more new cafes popping up and making a name for themselves.

My friends and I have always loved cafes and we love to chill out there, because we value catching up above shopping and all nowadays. So chilling at cafes with food is a major plus point.. Because we love love love food!! :P

I've been hitting cafes a lot, especially recently now that it is holiday period, which means even more catching up, and with more friends! Pretty glad that I've practically met everyone I'm "supposed" to meet. Yay! And since I've been frequenting these places, I thought I shall just write a post about those I went!

Disclaimer: No discrimination! Whatever I wrote is based on my own opinions. Photos wise, I took more at certain places and maybe just a shot or 2 at some.

Nice and quaint place, and I love the deco! The entrance gave those European-vintage feeling, y'know those stand alone brick and mortar shops?

I had the iced mocha/coffee (haha can't remember) which was alright but not exceptional, and I love L's iced chocolate! It was thick and very delicious :P

We shared this Banoffee Tart (whose name probably originated from the flavors of the tart - Banana & Coffee) and Lemon Meringue Cake! Both are really good, but I love the Banoffee Tart more, because the twist between banana, coffee & caramel(inside) is purely genius.

Went to this place over a weekend and it was crowded! But thankfully we still managed to get seats.. As what the name says, this place is known for pies! We had coffee and ordered pies to share! Went to this place 2 months ago, and as you know how bad my memory is with names, I forgot what flavors they were. :/

Via their webby, I found out that one of them was the strawberry lemon pie, but I really cannot figure out the second..

This "cafe" needs no introduction! I'm sure most people have already tried it, either the mains or desserts. Am craving for some truffle fries right now, :#

As much as we love the food and desserts, it's kinda on the pricey side, and even if we wanted to go for their desserts, we have to think twice because they have the "minimum 1 order from each person" policy, and their desserts are like hugeeeee

All day breakfast! Haven't had it for some time, hence craving for it. Breakfast & poached eggs were both alright, not excellent. Milkshakes on the other hand are nice!!

Mad for Garlic

J & I shared the signature garlic pizza as well as the pasta! The garlic pizza is nice, but I think they kinda "emphasized" too much on their bistro's name.We also ordered soda drinks, mine was the red wine soda, which tasted veryyy good!

We had this Baileys Tiramisu cake in a jar at the basement of Central, and it was good! Great concept of selling them in tins, so it's also easy to distribute and a little something different..

This place, is so near my place! Been there for quite a few times, and always loved their coffee! Tried their brunch and wraps before, and it was good too! My favorite was the Caramel Brulee (if I didn't remember wrongly). There's a crust of caramel on top, and latte below. Definitely go back there, since it's so near yet not that crowded! Oh yes, and it is just a stone throw away from Coastal Settlement!

Finally, we're here at this place, after wanting to come since forever!We wanted to try the waffles, but we were so stuffed from brunch so we decided to just order the tiramisu and their signature root beer cake.

Tiramisu was very good and I'm lovin' it! Root beer cake is not too bad, but the chocolate brownie just wasn't as smooth as what I had expected. The "dressing", which is the root beer, is really good!

Another cafe which I believe most have already tried! (there's one at Raffles City! but we went to the one at Tiong Bahru that day haha) My friends call this "atas bread" because majority are at least 7/8 bucks each? We ordered this chocolate lava cake to share, and it was not bad! Digestive biscuit base, something unusual.

The cakes here are soooo good! I don't take strawberry flavor, cheese cakes or green tea (except in Japan hahaha) but they are really good! The cheese cake, so fluffy! Not those which you'll get gelat after a while. Matcha cake too! Chocolate cake's nice too. Coffee's too bitter for all of us. I ordered "Magic" but I honestly don't know what so magical about it. LOL

Penny Uni opened last quarter in 2012, and I went there shortly after it opened and went there again recently! They serve unique hot food, of which, I had Turkish (poached) eggs! Had the Rosette pie the other time, it was blueberry/berries flavored if I didn't remember wrongly, and I love how pretty it is! Tastes good too! & oh, yes their cutesy teapot too! :P

That's pretty much the end of my post on cafes! Oh, and let me add on one more new ice cream joint in town! Apparently they already had a few outlets! The texture's really smooth! I was trying to google details about this, but there isn't much details at all. Apparently it is considered as fine dining in some countries? Hmm interesting..
