Hello I'm ZY. My friends call me ZINGGGGG, and I assume it's because they pronounced my name too quickly.
I eat a lot, sleep a lot, slack a lot. But I still get down to work when I have "feel".
That's pretty much about me, read on to know more!

Cafe hopping
Cafes have been an uprising trend in Singapore, with more new cafes popping up and making a name for themselves.
My friends and I have always loved cafes and we love to chill out there, because we value catching up above shopping and all nowadays. So chilling at cafes with food is a major plus point.. Because we love love love food!! :P
I've been hitting cafes a lot, especially recently now that it is holiday period, which means even more catching up, and with more friends! Pretty glad that I've practically met everyone I'm "supposed" to meet. Yay! And since I've been frequenting these places, I thought I shall just write a post about those I went!
Disclaimer: No discrimination! Whatever I wrote is based on my own opinions. Photos wise, I took more at certain places and maybe just a shot or 2 at some.
Disclaimer 2: The emoji ":P" in this entire post practically means yummz instead of bleah! Hehe.
Carpenter And Cook
19 Lorong Kilat, #01-06, 598120
Nice and quaint place, and I love the deco! The entrance gave those European-vintage feeling, y'know those stand alone brick and mortar shops?
I had the iced mocha/coffee (haha can't remember) which was alright but not exceptional, and I love L's iced chocolate! It was thick and very delicious :P
We shared this Banoffee Tart (whose name probably originated from the flavors of the tart - Banana & Coffee) and Lemon Meringue Cake! Both are really good, but I love the Banoffee Tart more, because the twist between banana, coffee & caramel(inside) is purely genius.
Windowsill Pies
78 Horne Rd
Singapore 209078
Went to this place over a weekend and it was crowded! But thankfully we still managed to get seats.. As what the name says, this place is known for pies! We had coffee and ordered pies to share! Went to this place 2 months ago, and as you know how bad my memory is with names, I forgot what flavors they were. :/
Via their webby, I found out that one of them was the strawberry lemon pie, but I really cannot figure out the second..
P.S. Cafe
LEVEL 2. PALAIS S.C
390 ORCHARD ROAD
This "cafe" needs no introduction! I'm sure most people have already tried it, either the mains or desserts. Am craving for some truffle fries right now, :#
As much as we love the food and desserts, it's kinda on the pricey side, and even if we wanted to go for their desserts, we have to think twice because they have the "minimum 1 order from each person" policy, and their desserts are like hugeeeee
Arbite
66A Serangoon Garden Way, Singapore 555962
All day breakfast! Haven't had it for some time, hence craving for it. Breakfast & poached eggs were both alright, not excellent. Milkshakes on the other hand are nice!!
Mad for Garlic
#01-16, Clarke Quay The Foundry, 3B River Valley Road
![]()
J & I shared the signature garlic pizza as well as the pasta! The garlic pizza is nice, but I think they kinda "emphasized" too much on their bistro's name.We also ordered soda drinks, mine was the red wine soda, which tasted veryyy good!
We had this Baileys Tiramisu cake in a jar at the basement of Central, and it was good! Great concept of selling them in tins, so it's also easy to distribute and a little something different..
Chock full of beans
Blk 4 Changi village road #01-2090
Singapore 500004
This place, is so near my place! Been there for quite a few times, and always loved their coffee! Tried their brunch and wraps before, and it was good too! My favorite was the Caramel Brulee (if I didn't remember wrongly). There's a crust of caramel on top, and latte below. Definitely go back there, since it's so near yet not that crowded! Oh yes, and it is just a stone throw away from Coastal Settlement!
Wimbly Lu
15-2, Jalan Riang
Singapore 358987
Finally, we're here at this place, after wanting to come since forever! We wanted to try the waffles, but we were so stuffed from brunch so we decided to just order the tiramisu and their signature root beer cake.
Tiramisu was very good and I'm lovin' it! Root beer cake is not too bad, but the chocolate brownie just wasn't as smooth as what I had expected. The "dressing", which is the root beer, is really good!
Tiong Bahru Bakery
56 Eng Hoon St #01-70
Singapore 160056
Another cafe which I believe most have already tried! (there's one at Raffles City! but we went to the one at Tiong Bahru that day haha) My friends call this "atas bread" because majority are at least 7/8 bucks each? We ordered this chocolate lava cake to share, and it was not bad! Digestive biscuit base, something unusual.
Max Brenner Chocolate Bar
8 Raffles Avenue, #01‐06/08 Esplanade Mall
Singapore 039802
This is one of the best chocolate lava cake I had. 'Nuff said. :]
Strangers' Reunion
33/35/37 Kampong Bahru Road
Singapore 169354 The cakes here are soooo good! I don't take strawberry flavor, cheese cakes or green tea (except in Japan hahaha) but they are really good! The cheese cake, so fluffy! Not those which you'll get gelat after a while. Matcha cake too! Chocolate cake's nice too. Coffee's too bitter for all of us. I ordered "Magic" but I honestly don't know what so magical about it. LOL
Penny University
402 East Coast Road
Singapore 428997
Penny Uni opened last quarter in 2012, and I went there shortly after it opened and went there again recently! They serve unique hot food, of which, I had Turkish (poached) eggs! Had the Rosette pie the other time, it was blueberry/berries flavored if I didn't remember wrongly, and I love how pretty it is! Tastes good too! & oh, yes their cutesy teapot too! :P
That's pretty much the end of my post on cafes! Oh, and let me add on one more new ice cream joint in town! Apparently they already had a few outlets! The texture's really smooth! I was trying to google details about this, but there isn't much details at all. Apparently it is considered as fine dining in some countries? Hmm interesting..

Tokyo Day 3 & 4
DAY 3: SHIBUYA
We usually have a packet of milk/fruit juice/coffee before we head out for our brunch! Decided on sushi that day, and we randomly walked into one with English menu.. Everything in Japan is so high-tech. This restaurant we went to, has this 3-tier automated "delivery tray". Basically you order using this touch screen menu, checkout, and then soon enough your sushi will be presented to you via that automated tray! After taking your plates off the tray, you'll press this button so that tray will move back to the kitchen!
Attempt 1 on food presentation hahaha (No luh, each variety has 2 pieces so each of us get a piece each!)
White chocolate tiramisu!! We were quite full by then, but we just had to squeeze out some space for desserts!! & the green tea powder is really power-pack #puny haha because.. You probably only scoop like one-tenth!!! of a teaspoon, and the whole cup of hot water. Ta-dah~ your green tea. Totally love this limegreen backdrop in Bershka! The single trip ticket! It is advisable to buy the metro cards to save on those costs, but there are 3 different subway companies which the trains are under in Tokyo, and you have to use their specific cards to take those lines.. Very troublesome, so we decided to just pay for these single trip tickets anyway. (& since we don't take that many trips a day. 2-4 trips perhaps?) ![]() The famous Shibuya crossing by day & by night! Had ramen that day (again), because it was getting a little too chilly (21-22 deg in the day, & it probably plunged to 16-18 deg that night) & we were kinda not dressed for it.. I was only in a dress and a l/s top. Spot the bamboo shoots and my lava egg!! I cannot remember the exact price for the meal, but it is probably slightly lesser than 10SGD. Since we were done exploring the area (& made our most expensive purchase there heh) & probably walked like 3 rounds around that place (LOL) after our dinner, we decided to brave the cold (& it wasn't thatttt cold at that point of time, which was around 7pm?) and head to Tokyo Station to check it out first. Pretty pretty place & our mandatory touristy shots hahaha. After that, there's nothing much to do because the tulips ko-en (garden) was already closed for the day. So basically we only stayed that and WOW-ed for like 15 minutes or so and then we left.. to another even more WOW place - Odaiba. Odaiba Odaibai is like one of my favourite place in Tokyo!! It doesn't even look too much like an Asian place (imo) Ky says I like anything that is huge and lights up in the dark. lol maybe true haha So there, we saw the Ferris Wheel!!!!!!!! XD XD XD It's like a 10-15 minutes walk to this place and the cold was killing me every second. lol. Awwwww <3 And that's not even the end.. We walked over to the other side of Odaiba.. Okay tourists have to do what tourists do best - take photos with anything you never see before :| Our faces.. really try very hard to *maintain* hahah. We didn't check out the malls in Odaiba because they were closing already, and probably the same stuff as those we have already shopped? haha
Macarons we bought at the CONVENIENCE STORE. (~SGD2ish for both & nice!!) Omg whyyyy I need to shift to Japan soon.. We had sashimi and sushi and MY LAVA EGG all bought from convenience stores for a few nights. Everything is so fresh and nice and relatively cheap (~SGD5 for 6 pcs of salmon/all other fishes LOL sushi)
DAY 4: GINZA/TOKYO TOWER
Ginza shopping area we went, and we were very lucky! The streets (roads) were closed over the weekend such that shoppers have maximum comfort - benches and beach umbrellas were placed along the streets!
Flowers on the streets of Tokyo.. so prettyzzzzzzz hahahahahahaha & super hahahah if you know the story "BTS". My Tokyo fling (RIGHT RIGHT, only right.) eyy!! Aigo.. Decided to try tempura that day! One more item strike-out of our "food to have in Japan" . & lava egg says hi. haha ![]() 12 story Uniqlo. & for the "sake of it", I bought.. hahaha snoopy hahaha boxer shorts hahahahah *paiseh* OOTD shots again.. Dressed like that, and later on layered cardigan beneath my l/s top and still freezing -.- Not complaining though! I think this was one of the coldest day - around 15 degrees? This cat, which I have no idea what it is, but everyone (like at least 30 people) were taking photos of it, so I decided to just grab a photo, and then google what's the amazing/interesting about this, but I haven't googled so.. here's just a photo of a cat which idky it is so famous hahahahaha After walking around for a bit, we decided to stop for desserts - Laduree!! :D I cannot remember their names already, but the polkadotted strawberry cake has strawberry mousse NOMSS (see, spam all the strawberry flavor which I don't even take in SG), huge rose macaron with raspberry and filling in the center, some Belgian chocolate & special tea (LOL) macaron. Super super super bad at names. I think I just brought down the positioning of Laduree by those above. Sorry!! But for real, it is super good.
Us with the desserts! After desserts and done with exploring Ginza, we went to Tokyo Tower!!
As it was still early and we wanted to catch the sunset there (which sadly wasn't up to expectations because it was kinda foggy so the skies aren't very clear), we went to the trick eye museum.. So tricky! So pathetically small. Totally peanuts as compared to the nice and really good one which I went to in Seoul 2 years back.
Nevertheless, some visuals still.
I was too huge for the little dino to chase me, so I decided to go the other way round haha
Yep.. that's the end of the "Trick Eye Museum".. mehh
Okay, more touristy shots!
There are 2 observation decks, middle, and right at the top. We only bought one (to go to the top, you need to go to the first observation deck to get one more to go to the top)
Ending the night with a late dinner! & my lava egg says hi again! hahaha
